
Tofu Fish

200 g firm tofu
20 g potato starch
1 sheet nori
¼ tsp salt
½ tbsp olive oil for frying

15 ml water
15 ml soy sauce
20 ml maple or agave syrup

Steps

1Add tofu to a mini food processor.

2Blend into paste ~ 30 seconds.

3Transfer the paste to a small mixing bowl. Add cornstarch and salt.

4Mix well to combine and set aside.

5Cut nori sheet in four and place on a flat clean surface or a sheet of baking paper.

6Split the tofu mix into four portions and spread over the nori.

7Flatten with your hands or a spoon and fold the edges in.

8Add to a lightly oiled frying pan, preferably cast iron. Set heat to medium-high (induction #6).

9Fry for 3 minutes or until golden brown.

10Flip over and fry for another 3 minutes or until golden brown.

11In the meantime, make the sauce. Add soy sauce, water and syrup to a jar or a bowl. Mix to combine. You can make as much sauce as you want by simply keeping the 1:1:1 ratio.

12Transfer to a serving plate. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve with the sauce on the side.
