How to Make 10-Minute Berry Jam

You can make a quick and flavorful jam in under ten minutes using frozen berries or any other frozen fruit. By simply simmering the fruit with a touch of sweetener, like agave or maple syrup, you create a fresh, naturally sweet spread without any preservatives. The fruit softens and breaks down as it cooks, resulting in a rich, jammy consistency.

For added texture and a boost of Omega-3s, chia seeds can be stirred in at the end, thickening the mixture as they absorb moisture. Letting the jam sit for a few minutes enhances its texture, making it perfect for pancakes, waffles, or toast. With complete control over the ingredients, you can adjust the sweetness to your preference or skip it altogether. Freshly made, this simple jam is both healthier and more flavorful than store-bought options, offering a naturally sweet, homemade touch to any meal.

Here is how to make a strawberry jam using frozen strawberries:

Ingredients

250 g ~ 8 oz frozen strawberries
20 ml ~ 1 tbsp agave or maple syrup
10 g ~ tbsp chia seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Add frozen strawberries to a small saucepan or a cast iron pot directly from the freezer.
  2. Add the syrup and mix to coat.
  3. Set heat to medium (induction #5) and bring to a simmer. Cover with a lid.
  4. Cook for 5 minutes or until the strawberries become soft. You can break and/or mash larger strawberries using a spoon or a spatula to get more jam-like consistency.
  5. Optional: add chia seeds and mix to combine. Set aside to soak for 5-10 minutes. It'll keep in the fridge for up to 4-5 days.
